It’s a Tuesday, so it’s an early show! Be on time!
For those of you who missed Ms. YET and Lisa Chow’s joint exhibit-cum-tea party, Once There Was, Once There Wasn’t, here is a great post about it from Pancho and Leftey. I had to miss it because of stupid stupid work!!!
But their true extravaganza awaits, the closing performance is August 18th and a little bird told me it’s going to be quite the event. Adults only~
Host Ivan Cheesman and his counterpanel present beautiful sounds and ideas for you!

Time for Cyclists to Follow Traffic Laws
An editorial published today in CHRON.COM (I always imagine a duck-like honking noise when I write/say this url) says cyclists have won, and that they must now behave like cars.
Houston is in the middle of fully embracing bicycles as a legitimate alternative to driving, spending millions of dollars to construct bicycle lanes that aren’t just for recreation, but actually functional transportation. Bicyclists are being brought into the fold. At a certain level, Critical Mass has won.
What do you think, Htown?

We have carefully selected these artists, each of which bring their unique and fresh perspective to the art scene in Houston.
Please join us as we celebrate these artists’ work. Sponsored by Southern Star Brewing.

So I have to be honest and say that I think plarn is a hilarious and somewhat unfortunate name for what is actually a fantastic means of repurposing one of the biggest contributors to passive waste: plastic yarn. Made out of plastic bags!
Anyway, long time subscribers and early adopters here on Counterblog may remember a photo I posted from Countercrawl II (you may click here if you are lazy and do not wish to scroll back thru the history - I will not be sad) - this was of Bianca Ferrer and Jen Raffiasco’s spot at the Last Organic Outpost, and Jen is teaching the class! FULL CIRCLE OR LOOP STITCH OR SOMETHING
Anyway here’re the deets:

For anyone who doesn’t know about Simón Bolivar, he is considered the father of Hispanic America’s independence and is accorded much honor, tho it is true that he was a dictator at one point too.
Here’s a little something for your calendars — or not, since it’s happening in like 2 hours.
